And, you have been able to deliver exactly what you promised. As we have expressed before, we had no idea where to begin with our building project. Then we contacted JH Batten and everything seemed to fall into place. "JH Batten were God sent." Thank you for being there to aid and assist us in reaching our goal. In His Service, Michael Thomas First United Methodist Church A dream that began in 1992 became a reality in 1999. First United Methodist Church had met to talk about future building needs during 1992. The meeting brought up needs for a larger fellowship hall, conference room, parlor and a new modern kitchen. In 1999 that dream came true when JH Batten finished a new addition. The Family Life Center will seat 250 persons at tables. Our new conference room being used as a Sunday School Class room holds 30. Our new parlor holds about 20 people comfortably. We recently held a summer Vacation Bible School and our closing program was on the new stage in the Family Life Center. There were over 130 children, youth and adults at this closing program. The Pilot Mountain First United Methodist Church now has the largest auditorium in the city of Pilot Mountain. The High School band recently performed in concert. JH Batten from Walkertown was the contractor who helped this dream become a reality. It was a slab on grade building with block walls. It was completed in eight months and has already helped the church and community. We have been very proud of the job done by JH Batten and the subcontractors. In fact one of the subcontractors workers is getting married this month in the building he helped build. You know it might just be bricks and mortar but it is also a place of laughter, joy and sometimes even a place of grieving and sadness but always a place where lives are touched. Brick and mortar but a lot more too and JH Batten helped make it all possible. And JH Batten, Inc. encouraged the involvement of subcontractors connected to our congregation as bids were made for various parts of the project. On the day of our groundbreaking, a team of persons from the company were on hand to help us celebrate the beginning of construction, including David Batten, the company president. Each day construction of this church's new facility draws closer to its completion. The excitement of this congregation and community continues to grow as the buildings rise from the ground. From the day leaders of this church learned about design-build until the day of completion and beyond, JH Batten, Inc. has been more than just a construction company; indeed, they are partners with our congregation and others in building the Kingdom of God on earth.
