From the inception, planning and throughout Mark Johnson was instrumental. Mike Mikla and Steve Young provided outstanding leadership and general supervision of the work crews. Your people and all the subcontractors worked very well with our Building Committee. Your employees demonstrated great patience and worked very hard to please us. We are impressed with the craftsmanship displayed by the entire crew. We believe they did a good job. I echo the sentiment of the congregation when I say we are most pleased with the finished product. There have been no end of compliments by all who have viewed the completed project. Early in the project it soon became apparent that your employees were well-trained and competent. Please convey our thanks and appreciation to your entire staff for a job well done. In the future I will happily provide tours and give recommendation on behalf of your company and its workmen. Most sincerely, Delbert D. Permann, D.Min. B D H & Young Space Design Thank you for the excellent job your company provided on our church renovation project. Your team consisting of Mark Johnson, Mike Mikla and Steve Young were attentive, responsive and a pleasure to work with. Their attention to detail and their professionalism were very much appreciated. The final product accomplished the architectural vision I had for the project and the congregation is very pleased with the renovation of the sanctuary and ancillary spaces. I will recommend your firm to other prospective clients and I look forward to working with you and your firm in the future. Sincerely, Patrick J. Giordana, AIA First Presbyterian Church Dear Mr. Derrick: On behalf of First Presbyterian Church of St. Croix Falls and its Building Committee, I commend and thank Derrick Construction for building our 4,400 square foot Christian Education wing addition as a design and build project (with Architectural Design Group, Inc. of Menomonie, Wisconsin). As you know, Mark Johnson was project Manager and Kevin Derrick was Site Manager. They completed the project on schedule and within budget, and the project went smoothly and professionally. Our dedication ceremony will be during the church service, at 10:00 a.m.. this Sunday, September 8, [2002] and we will welcome any Derrick representatives who may be able to attend. Sincerely yours, Michael Prichard Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church Dear Mr. Derrick: On behalf of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in River Falls I would like to thank you for the outstanding workmanship from your employees on our recent Banquet Hall addition. We are very pleased with the work that was done and we were impressed with Mark Johnson and Michael Mikla's excellent communication skills. As with any building projects you are concerned with cost over runs, troubles with the contractor/subcontractors, and the project not being done on time. That was not the case with our project. Mark and Michael kept us informed of changes or delays. If we needed to meet on a subject or make decisions, they were available and did not hesitate on taking the time to meet. Again, I would like to thank you on behalf of the congregation for making the building committee's job easy and the building project a great success! We are truly happy with how it turned out and are looking forward to many years of use by the congregation. Sincerely, Peter Stern Church of The Immaculate Conception of The Blessed Virgin Last Year our parish hired Derrick Construction and Architectural Design Group to work with us to formulate a Feasibility Study. The selection of their firm went through a long and arduous process of committees and Councils. Several firms were initially considered for this first task as we were preparing to begin the process of building and remodeling. Throughout the process Derrick Construction and Architectural Design Group remained poised, professional, and competent. When the final decision was made to hire Derricks and Architectural Design, we never looked back. Both these firms have made it easy for us to applaud our selection of them for our project. Because they were able to complete the task for which they were hired in a timely fashion, and because their price was both fair and reflective of the work they promised to do, and because they made themselves available to us when needed, I can heartily recommend both Derrick Construction and Architectural Design Group for their knowledge, patience, expertise and willingness to work with and for groups and institutions. This phase of our project has been completed and I believe we can feel secure that the information is accurate and timely and reflective of our needs. Sincerely yours in Christ, Reverend Allan Bradley Bethel Lutheran Church Our experince with Derrick Commercial Contracting was, simply put, wonderful! Our plan was to develop a 40 acre site as a second campus for our congregation's ministries. Working with Station 19 Architects, and another contrator, a structure was designed which would meet our need. Although our budget was clearly in mind from the beginning, the result of our planning was that the project would cost roughly $25. million more than our budget: about $8 million. A round of cuts followed but the projected cost was still far over our abliity to pay for it. One of our building committee members, who is a general contractor, urged us to work with his competitor, Derrick. While the committee was anticipating further rounds of cuts, Derrick urged us to let them work on the project as originally conceived. Their work in value engineering resulted in a proposal to construct all that we had originally planned and to do so within the $5.5 million that our budget allowed for the entire scope of the project, including land, site development costs, constrcution and FF&E. The construction phase was well managed in every way. The project was begun on time, progressed as planned, and was completed on time. Along the way, Mark Johnson and Mike Mikla were unfailingly helpful sub developing plans to the church's best advantage and in solving problems as they arose. All the while their effort assured high quality work product by the sub contractors who were part of the project. We are very pleased with Bethel Highlands Campus and grateful for our partnership with Derrick in bringing it from plan to reality. Sincerely, Dennis R. Nelson, St. Bridget Church Letter of Reference for Derrick Commercial Contracting, LLC February 2007 We are very pleased to have contracted our $4.1 million church expansion project with Derrick Commercial Contracting, LLC of New Richmond, WI. We have been extremely pleased with not only the Derrick Company's throughness, but also their professionalism. Through the efforts of project manager - Mark Johnson, and jobsite superintendent - Mike Mikla they built a partnership with our church utilizing good communication skills, sound problem solving techniques, excellent planning, and solid project construction. They furthered our relationship by their attentiveness to realize a complete understanding of our needs, exercising senitivity while coordinating with liturgical and sacramental limitations, helping to resolve various building issues unique to the Catholic Church and overall, being very nice people. We are so pleased to finally have all our church ministries served from under one roof, and realize the uniting contributions made by the Derrick Company have brought our place of worship to fruition. We strongly and whole-heartedly recommend Derrick Commercial Contracting, LLC to other firms or churches searching for a competent general contractor. Please feel free to contact us at our church office (715.425.1870) if you have further questions or would like additional information. Sincerely in Christ, Rev Gerald Harris, Pastor Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton February 5, 2007 Mr. Mark Johnson I am writing to thank you and Derrick Contracting for the excellent service you provided in building our addition in 2005 and 2006. In particular I wish to commend the project superintendent scott Wille. Scott was very knowledgeable about the project, was attentive to the many details, and was simply a pleasure to work with each day. I was also especially impressed with your efforts to help the church control the costs of the project. The information you brought to the table regarding changes and unforeseen circumstances was vital in helping the church make good decisions with its resources. I felt very comfortable working with you and, by extension, with Derrick Contracting. I felt as though we were on the same team in this project, in that we shared the goal of creating a beautiful yet cost-effective space. We have received many, many compliments on our new space from our own community members and our many visitors. It is a credit to Derrick Contracting that you accomplished what you did at St. Elizabeth. Thank you! Sincerely, Mark Dittman |
