Joseph Chorba, Jr. (Jody), the CEO of Chorba Contracting Corporation, was born into a family that understood construction. After his 1973 graduation from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, he returned to his hometown of Guntersville, Alabama, to work as a construction project manager. Two years later, he and a partner started a construction firm. In 1977 he established his own contracting firm, one that has been providing quality construction in the Southeast for more than 30 years now.

Jody Chorba has a strong affiliation with his hometown Episcopalian church. He is also involved in community organizations such as the Rotary Club and the Guntersville United Way. Active with the Alabama Alumni Association, he has been elected as president of the prestigious alumni group. He has also served on the board of directors for several banks over the years.

As a founding member of the NACDB, Jody Chorba and the other founders saw a need for an organization that could help a growing church find the right building contractor for their needs – a contractor who offered both skilled construction and a passion for church work. To reach this goal, the NACDB founders realized the importance of staying current on the latest church growth trends and changing facility needs. Further, they sought to share the up-to-date data they gleaned with each other as well as with growing churches. This shared knowledge could empower church decision makers during the critical planning phases of their building and renovation project, resulting in a focused growth plan that benefited both the church and the builder. These communication efforts became the foundation of today’s extensive NACDB network.

With the considerable experience Chorba Contracting had in commercial building and in church projects, Jody Chorba was able to bring a wealth of knowledge to the NACDB efforts. Eventually, Chorba also hired an old friend and retired facilities engineer to focus his time on church growth and NACDB efforts. And Chorba Contracting continues to provide quality work performed by skilled craftsman, serving each client as if they were our only client.
